A good morning starts in the evening. And the right evening routine will make a huge difference of how productive your tomorrow is going to be. Your day is only as good as the night before. I love to plan my tomorrow the day before, it makes it a lot easier to get things done and you are- believe it or not, a lot more motivated. You will also sleep a lot better when you are organized, trust me.
1. Set your priorities.
The first thing you need to do in the evening, before you start to relax, is to set your priorities for the next day. I always sit down and write in my notes what it is that I need to remember to do. Yes, I might get a bit stressed looking at it all, but once it is written down, I know i won't forget and I can disconnect and focus on relaxing.
2. Start planning your perfect evening.
Think about your perfect evening. What would your ideal evening look like? I mean, you have to be realistic. If you got a dog, you have to put in the time to take him for a walk, but some fresh air might be relaxing and good for you? For me since I don't have anyone that needs to be taken care of it would be to take a shower to scrub my body from top to toe, put on some hair treatment conditioner and jump in the bathtub with a good face mask and listen to some relaxing spa music. Put on some good moisturizer, my favorite robe, and end the night with one of my favorite shows and a cup of hot tea!
3. Do things that matters to you.
The ultimate relaxing evening needs to contain something that makes your brain switch off for a bit. Which I find really difficult, I can take a bath and lay there and think about all the things " i have to do." The thing is the stuff " I have to do" is not really that important, so its good to try to change your thinking, and know that it is already written down and you don't have to worry no more.
I would say sleep is very important too, but it is not often that, that is all you need after a busy day. Like I said it has to be something that will switch your mind off. Maybe working out, painting, reading a book.. What makes you feel like a new person once you've done something? Do that. Don't forget to treat yourself with some good food, and maybe even a glass of wine?
4. Switch off from The Social World.
The Social World as in Social Media; Instagram, Facebook, Blogs, Youtube, Snapchat, Twitter, all of that good stuff. It is addicting, I know. It might be a really good idea to step away from technology, putting your phone in another room or turning it off altogether. Studies show that the more social media platforms we use, the less sleep we are getting. The blue light of most devices disrupts the brains natural sleep/wake cycle. Ban social media after a certain time if you want to get restful sleep in the evening, relax, and actually switch off. I know that I struggle to do so, but 2019 is just around the corner, and I need to be better at it! ✨
5. Do the same every night
Doing the same routine every night might help your brain to understand that it is time to go to bed. Take a hot shower or a warm bath, a cup of relaxing tea, a good moisturizer, these are all things that will slow you down, and give your brain cues that it’s almost time to go to sleep. But before you do all of this! Put your phone away, make sure your alarm clock is on for the next day.
I hope you liked this post, and my question is; Is any of you going to try it out?
